Gifted to Give: Message for the Partnership of UST Science and Unilab

February 03, 2021
MESSAGE FOR THE UST-SCIENCE AND UNILAB PARTNERSHIP FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
OF STUDENTS OF MICROBIOLOGY
4 February 2021

The collaboration of the College of Science of the University of Santo Tomas and Unilab is a potent and concrete witnessing of the Word of God, especially in this opportune time when Science has been our weapon against the pandemic. Therefore, this endeavor in the field of Microbiology is not only life-changing for our scholars but also life-changing for the Church and the society that we are serving. The UST Science-Unilab partnership will not be only be etched in the curricula vitae of the scholars, but such experience will forever be part of their life.

We are imparting to the youth of today the virtues of faith, hope, and love that we badly need today. We are talking about micro but the effect is macro. We will be studying about organisms not visible to the naked eye, yet God sees all the endeavors of our partnership. When we offer to God all our scientific endeavors, we are actually sanctifying our engagement, just like St. Albert the Great, the patron of scientists, who labored per scientiam ad dominum, through Science towards the Lord.
And because of this, through this very example, we will all have the power to make a change in other people’s lives, which echoes the theme of the celebration of the 500 years of the arrival of Christianity in the Philippines: Gifted to Give. We are all gifted to Give.

Maraming salamat po. God bless us all.

Rev. Fr. Louie R. Coronel, OP
Regent, UST College of Science
